Accomplishments & Initiatives

Since January 5, 2014, the day Amanda was promoted to her eternal home, God has been working GOOD things. Here are a few things that have been initiated and accomplished since then:
- Amanda Kelsall Scholarship at UOttawa supporting students in the MD program
- Amanda Kelsall Scholarship at Eastview Secondary School (Amanda's former high school)
- Amanda Kelsall Award at WR Best Elementary School (Amanda's former elementary school)
- Just under 1000 individual Care Packages sent to UOttawa Students in Amanda’s 2016 Medical Class and Faculty
- "sMiles for Amanda" Annual Run organized by the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine held in the Spring in Ottawa, Ontario (since 2014)
- “sMiles for Amanda” Annual Run organized by WE UNITE in Horseshoe Valley, Ontario (since 2016)
- Through various “sMiles for Amanda” Runs, funds have been raised for the following:
- 2014-Trauma Unit at the Ottawa Hospital-just under $6,000
- 2015- Ebola Fight in Liberia through Samaritan’s Purse-just over $3,000
- 2016-Medical Aid for Syrian Refugees through Doctors without Borders-just under $6,000 (Ottawa and Horseshoe)
- 2017-Research for ALS-just under $8,000 (Ottawa and Horseshoe)
- 2018-Mental Health-UOttawa Brain and Mind Research Institute-$1,877.80
- 2018-Mental Health Horseshoe-Youth Mental Health Centre-$5,000
- 2018-Year Two “sMiles for Amanda” Run in Cardiff, UK: Cardiff Mind-150 British Pounds
- January 2017-John and Sharon traveled to Ghana, Africa to meet Amanda’s Sponsor Child through International Needs and Sefa, founder of Elective Ghana who Amanda worked with in 2013
- April 2017-Ghana Event-raised funds for Mission Amanda
-raised awareness, child sponsorship and funding for special projects through International Needs Canada and International Needs Ghana
- April 2017-Tea Party Fundraiser for Mission Amanda
- April 2018-“Higher Tea” Party Fundraiser for Mission Amanda
